It was one of those usual days, you get woken up by the sunlight that filters from the courtains and lays on your face, you try to fight against it squinting and rolling into your bed. Then you just give up. You open your eyes and a new day of your life begins.
That's how Katsu uses to wake up, the sun was his alarmclock, setting a real one would be "such a waste of energy" as he says. Opening his eyes slowly to stare at ceiling for a moment, yawning few times while waiting for your body to get ready to face a new day. His arm wrapped around his plushie, a little monkey that he named "Katsu", not original but he was happy with that.
Sitting up on the bed, he turned toward Hayato's empty bed, he was already getting ready for the classes, Katsu could hear the sound of the water from the bathroom. Sighing, he slowly pushed away the sheets and put his feet on the cold ground. Scratching his head, he laid his plushie on the pillow like he wanted it to rest a little bit more, then, with a deep sigh, he stood up and walked to the closet after glancing to the digital clock on his bedside, 7:50 am, it was time to get ready.
Rubbing his neck, the red head grabbed his school outfit from the closet, he was still using the summer one since it wasn't really cold yet, but for the morning it was better wearing a jacket or a hoodie. After gathering what he needed, he walked silent to the bathroom opening the door without knocking as always. Hayato was there standing in front of the mirror while arranging his hair, deciding if he should go for a simple ponytail or something else today as he kept talking to himself through the mirror.
-"You've such a sexy hair, Hayato", he said while tying his hair, opting for his usual onion.
Katsu walked in and dropped his clothes on the chair, before sitting on them as well yawning once again, he already made a lot of effort to arrive there. Hayato turned to him with his usual smile, "Morning~", he said before turning back to the mirror, he had to finish working on his hairstyling.
Katsu stretched a bit, he was kinda still in dreamworld and answered with a whipered "Morning..." to his friend, then dropped his hands on his lap staring in front of him like searching for the will to start getting ready for real this time. Going back to bed was the only thought he had at the moment but he knew that Hayato would kick him off the bed the moment after he just would sit on it again.
A deep breathe, gathering the will to get up and then starting to get changed lazily, without even caring if his clothes would look messy. As he was done with his clothes, he moved the chair next to Hayato, as usual his mate would brush and tie his hair while talking about random things, when the past, when the sport, jumping from a subject to another without a proper logic. This was Hayato's way to keep him awake, after all those years of friendship he knew how to deal with his friend.
The time to leave the room has come.
Few steps and there, in front of the door of the dorm room next to them, Tetsuya was standing as everyday waiting for them. A friendly pat on the back and then someone glomping from behind. Kei had this way to join the group, glomping the one of them who would be closer to him as he walked to them. He was the one who managed to be hyper form the very first moment he woke up, everyone never managed to understand how the Ookami brother could be so different between each other, the opposites, not that this was a problem to any of them, just simple curiousity.
And then is time to walk outside, but Katsu couldn't help it, a glance to a certain door, a fast one before looking back to the way. That number 6 on the door, how many did he cross that entrance? Never worried about counting them, that wasn't what was important to him. He got lost into his thoughts, but not for too long. A light hit of an elbow on his arm and he turned to Kei.
-"So, are you coming?", he asked brightly grinning to him, while placing one hand on his brother's shoulder.
Katsu didn't even hear where they should go but he just agreed with a slight shrugging. And that's when Tetsuya kind of snapped to them.
-"You guys should stop skipping the first class everyday because you wake up and you're late for breakfast", the read head said them with a scolding tone. "This time is a no-no, we're going to class no matter what!", he continued before grabbing their hands and dragging them outside, Katsu just followed them yawning without even really getting what was going on. Tetsuya would totally hit them with the bigger book he has in his backpack if it was necessary to convince them, they just laughed it as they got dragged.
And there, they were outside. The morning weren't as warm as before now, the autumn arrived and it could be seen by the leaves changing their colors. "We have the same colors as autum" once Tetsuya said, something that took Katsu a while to understand.
-"Hey guys~", the read headed group of guys turned almost at the same time to the direction of the voice and there Akemi and Maiko were standing waving at them while holding hands as usual, the four guys walked to them and there the family was complete. Akemi, the actress of the group, and Maiko... there isn't a real word to descrive her, she was just the glue that kept the group together and the happyness of each of them, she always managed to cheer them up even when she didn't mean to, it was was just her attitude.
Now it was time to head to their classes. They walked quietly in the hallways, chatting, laughing, joking. None of them even cared they were late. They never cared about the time when they were together. The first one to leave the group was Maiko, she hugged her older brother who kissed gently her forehead before letting her go, a little poke on the nose from Hayato, getting her hair ruffled by Kei and another little hug from her "Tomato-nii", then Maiko gave a little peck on Akemi's cheek who smiled tenderly back at her before seeing her disappear behind the classroom door.
And they began walking again, here and there around the hallways there were people running to their classrooms as they just kept walking chatting and quietly getting closer to the second years classrooms.
There, they didn't have really a lot of time to greet each other, Kei just grabbed Akemi's arm dragging her into the room while she was starting her teasing war with Hayato. They three of them just stood there and then chuckled at the scene before set out to their classroom as well.
Entering the room, each of them headed to his own desk. Walking through the desks, Katsu spotted Shi, for a second he felt like his mouth was drying. He simply lift his hand to attempt a lazy waving while smiling lightly at him and losing a bit into his eyes. This friendship was still difficult for him, mostly because he kept having feelings... and hopes. He knew it was a lost of time, but nobody could ever forbid him to keep is hopes high, it hurt like hell, it did. Shaking his head he walked finally to his place without even notice if Shi even responded to his waving, he dropped on the ground his bag and sat down on the chair. Without even worrying about taking out anything, he pulled his hood on his head and laid on his arms crossed on the desk. This is what he always does in class: sleeping.
As the last bell rang, the crowd of students got out from the classrooms, there was who ran to the cafeteria to get some food or just chill with its friends in front of a drink, who had club business and who just wanted to relax into its room.
Katsu walked to his dormroom to leave his school bag and take the soccer one, it was time for his practice.
Slowly he headed to the soccer field, his soccer bag over his shoulder, one hand into his pockets and the headphones shoting loud music into his ears. Looking straight to the way, some of those thoughts came back, he just stopped to avoid them time ago now seeing how much useless was to fight against them. He just let them running into his head trying not to pay much attention to them, he had to focus on soccer now. And there he stepped on the field grass stopping there for a bit, then bending on his knees, he began touching slightly the tiny grass blades.
-"Here is where we met ne...?", he said with a faint voice while a little smile began to appear on his face as he closed his eyes for a moment going back to that day. It was still summer, he was to the soccer field for practice and then met this guy who he alwyas had the feeling he already met once. Thos thoughts sometime just made him smile, not only feeling sadness, melancholy. He was going to get lost into them again.
There was no time to think now.
He shook the thoughts out of his violently and stood up heading to the changing rooms to get ready to put his heart on the field even if this was just practice and nothing more.
The practice began, running, pushups, sprints and all the other excercises with the coach yelling into your ears. Then finally the match against your own teammates, that's the moment he could really free his mind and just focus on his "ball-chan". The heart that speeds up as he got closer to the goal, the goal giving you the idea that's smaller when you're there to score, all the moments you hit the ground but you don't feel any pain just because the adrenaline is running free through your veins and in your whole body. He loved those moments, it was one of those rare times that his brain woke up completely and he could look like a genius on that field, or maybe he was just too lazy to look smart.
And then the magic has to reach its end, time to get back to the real life and leave dreamworld once again. Sometime he asked hiself why people kept holding onto dreams so desperately if they even knew that it was impossible for them to get real. But it was something he uses to do as well, it just gives you enough strenght to go on when life gets tough.
The shower always took him a lot of time, relaxing his muscles after all that running here and there, removing the dirt from his skin and cleaning the few bruises he got on his legs and elbows while standing under the water, closing his eyes, his mind was totally empty in this moment, just for this little time he was completely free.
Finally getting in his room, Hayato wasn't there this time, he dropped his soccer bag in a corner of the room and sat on his bed placing his elbows on his legs, quietly staying there in the silence ad the adrenaline was starting to step back and he began to feel he muscles tired and heavier. His only thought now was to lay on the bed and sleep but as he attempted to do so his phone rang. Katsu took his phone out from his pockets and read the text, it was Tetsuya totally yelling at him to get out from his room and to bring his butt over to the the courtyard since they were planning a dinner all together. He smiled at that text and just stood up and walked out the room shoving his phone back to its place, it seemed like the day didn't reach its end yet.
A few yawns here and there while he walked to the meeting place, it wasn't really far so he didn't take a lot of time to get there.
And again hugs, jokes, laughs and smiles. Everyone was waiting for the lazy member of the family.
The walk to the place Maiko and Akemi choose didn't feel as long as it really was, maybe is just because when you're having a nice time the time passes so fast, always only when you're having a good time, why doesn't this happen even when the life is spitting on your face? The world will never know.
And there they were sitting around the table of the fastfood, Katsu leaned his cheek on his hands staring at the food, he was way too lazy to use his other hand to eat it at the moment. Hayato was having a little talk with his own food into his head, like it was a girl while Maiko lifted up his mask just a little, enough for the food to reach her mouth while chatting with Akemi inbetween . Tetsuya was just eating as a normal person at least, he always tried to look like a good older brother and mostly in front of Maiko while Kei was just swallowing his food at full speed, it didn't even seem that he chew on it at all.
Katsu looked slowly at each of them, all his friends, his brother, a smile, the heart that was feeling lighter for a moment. That was his family. He just stood there watching at them as the laughes and smiled talking and totally ignoring his food, he wasn't really hungry anyway, that happened often after soccer practice. It was so good looking at their smiles would make you feel better and every time he spent his time with them, the problems just were shoved in the background and what was important was just having fun.
The time was passing and the need of sleep was starting to get out, Katsu tried to stay awake and keep talking with them but he was yawning too often. Getting up from his chair he stretched himself and then waved to them before walking away, his hands into his pockets as always, walking at a fast pace because he just wanted so bad to lay on his bed, maybe this was the good time he would fall asleep as he closed his eyes.
Finally in his room, again, taking off his shoes with the help of his own feet, why using you hands anyway? Leaving them in the middle of the room, he grabbed randomly a some soccer pants and a shirt throwing them on the bed. While getting changed, he dropped his clothes on the floor, that room would always look a big mess. He just let himself fall on the bed, his face hitting the pillow, then grabbed his headphones and his iPod, it was time for the goodnight music. Wrapping his arm around his monkey plushie, he turned on the music and closed his eyes thinking that he was gonna pass out really soon.
That wasn't the case though.
It didn't matter how much loud the music was, it began to fade away like whole world around him. Again. In the nights when he was alone it was so hard to ignore his thoughts, almost impossible. He was thinking about him sometime? Rolling on the bed he tried hard to get rid of them but they were too strong, and he was too weak. The thoughts began to stab him so hard straight in the chest and it was painful
And then the anger takes over. A punch on the wall. The teeth gritting so tight that it felt they are gonna bleed sooner or later.
But then this anger just flows out through the tears. Again.
Katsu curled up on the bed, silent sighs, few sobs. He didn't know for how long he kept crying there in the dark, but it was enough for Hayato to find him like that.
Katsu just felt someone laying behind him, then an arm wrapping around his body. He didn't need to turn around, he knew who was because this was happening so often lately.
Hayato didn't say anything, he just took away Katsu's headphone turning the iPod off and placing them back on the bedside and then put his arm back around his friend feeling the slight trembling of his body. Hayato hated so bad seeing him like that, but he knew he just needed time, he passed through something like that as well.
-"Now try sleep... I'm here, don't worry...", he whispered before kissing lightly his head, Katsu nodded slightly at him trying to take deep breathes to calm down.
It was already too late to call for Tetsuya now, the next day they would have another sleepover, those worked pretty well.
And another day was ending.
Another day was gonna arrive soon as well and even if something new happens, it still routine. Some things could be good about it and you wouldn't change them, instead other would be just something you would get rid off without thinking twice about it.
But still, this is the life.
Life can be nice.
Life can be tough.
Is just.... life.
